Thank you for another great year!

The 2023-2024 Officer Team would like to thank you for supporting the chapter in another great year!

A Year In Review

We hope that everyone had a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year! We have a lot coming up in 2024 including a chapter meeting on January 18th at 6:30pm to help package the care packages to send to soldiers overseas, on January 30th, some members will be heading to the Capital to speak with our legislators about the importance of Agricultural Education, on February 2nd we will be having a bake sale at the basketball game versus North Butler, plus so much more!

With all of these fun things coming up, we want to recap of all the fun things we did last year.

  • We sent 15 care packages overseas last spring to soldiers that were away from their family around Valentine's Day.

  • We gifted 10 tie blankets and hand written notes to the Nora Springs Care Center. Just to lighten up 10 of the residents at the Care Center.

  • 23 FFA members got their Greenhand degree last spring.

  • Our Chapter Display team got 1st place at the State Convention last year.

  • The test plot committee planted 14 acres of corn.

  • FFA members held our annual baby animal day where it allows elementary students to learn more about life on the farm. 300 students were taught about farm animals and the safety of being around farm animals.

  • Intro to AFNR went out to the Floyd Camp and planted 20 trees that were donated to our FFA Chapter. We also had 23 chickens that were hatched. Some members got to take the chicks home and later showed them at the county fair in July.

  • We went on a few field trips to better our knowledge on Agriculture and strengthen our skills of Leadership. Some of the trips being Kirkwood Ag Day, Greenhand Fire up, Charles City Leadership Day, State IAT Conference.

  • A lot of members enjoy driving their tractors to school, so we decided that we would try something new and have two drive tractors to school, one in the fall and one in the spring.

  • In the summer some members went to different contests such as Ag Mechanics, Live Stock Judging.

  • We had a few members show some of their animals at the County Fair.  Along with one member showing swine at the State Fair.

  • We froze 299 cups of sweet corn this summer. FFA officers came up with the idea at Retreat this summer to freeze sweet corn for Banquet and other activities throughout the year.

  • We delivered 30 harvest meals to local farmers to show our appreciation for all they do.

  • We served 30 meals to Alumni and Supporters at our Alumni supper that the officer team puts together every year to show the alumni what we have accomplished in the past year.

  • At National Convention our chapter got awarded a National Chapter Award.

  • We put on a light show this year to raise money for our care packages to send overseas to soldiers and we raised $716.

  • FFA members worked hard and sold $21,000 worth of Fruit Sales with our goal of being 20,000.

  • We collected 1,000 items of food from our Food Drive and donated it to Amy’s Food Pantry.

  • Toys 4 Tots this year we bought $5,000 worth of toys for kids in need.

THANK YOU for all you have done to support us in our activities!

Now that we have celebrate a very fun and eventful year we have a lot of events coming up. One big one being on February 19th.
